Light steel frame construction has been available in New Zealand for decades as a viable alternative to light timber frame construction in one to two story residential housing. Whilst timber remains an important building product, steel framed housing is a viable alternative and a positive step towards developing a resilient supply chain that is not dependent on one material. Some builders have adapted and are building steel framed houses, but there remains a significant opportunity for this to become more widely used.
Axxis® Steel for framing made by New Zealand Steel® offers so many benefits; design flexibility to create wide open space, ease of specification, speed of construction, backed by a 50-year durability statement, and great sustainability benefits. Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn more about the benefits, the fabrication supply chain and the support available to enter into this growing category. www.nzsteel.co.nz |

CodeRight Framing from North Sawn Lumber
Framing Timber - Machine stress graded
Machine Stress Grading (MSG) is a recognised industry standard used to accurately verity the structural integrity of timber. New Zealand has very strict rules and regulations around structural timber grading, which includes Machine Stress Grading, where products much comply with the standard NZS 1748. Under an MSG program every single piece of timber is tested and timber with a SG rating of 8 and over can be used in a structural application. The MSG program also requires timber to be visually graded to ensure it meets the minimum visual grade requirement. Asure Quality perform independent third party verification of the North Sawn Lumber stress grading program. SG timber is grouped according to the modules of elasticity and identified with the SG grade the timber has achieved. It is branded accordingly, for example timber verified as SG8 is branded SG8 so it can be easily identified as fit for purpose in a structural application. SG products can be used in a number of applications. Examples of Use: 1. Lintels 2. Floor joists 3. Roof beam 4. General Framing 5. Trusses NSL also produce a wide range of other timber products specialising in non-standard sizing and custom orders. TRUSTWood from North Sawn Lumber
